What Is LexFeel N5?

Derived from castor oil and coconut oil, LexFeel N5 is a biodegradable emollient that mimics silicone emollients[1]. It is often used as a plant-derived alternative to silicone-based compounds like dimethicone and cyclomethicone[2,3]

How LexFeel N5 Is Made

LexFeel N5 is a diheptyl succinate and capryloyl glycerin sebacic acid copolymer. While diheptyl succinate is manufactured via the pyrolysis of castor oil and from fermentation[4], capryloyl glycerin sebacic acid is manufactured in part by oxidizing castor oil.[1]

What Does LexFeel N5 Do?

LexFeel N5 is a frictionless detangler that improves the texture of skin products, soaps, antiperspirants, and makeup. It is most notable for imparting hair with greater shine and smoother texture. This is especially why we chose to use LexFeel N5 in our hair care products.

Is LexFeel N5 Safe?

Whole Foods has deemed the ingredient acceptable in its body care and cleaning product quality standards.[5,6]
