Back in 2013, Puracy created the first iteration of our Natural Laundry Detergent.

From its 99.4% plant-based ingredients to its 10X concentrated formula to its plant-powered enzymes, this product has always been effective yet gentle on delicate clothes and sensitive skin. After multiple tweaks and formulations, we believe that we’ve created the best plant-based laundry soap on the market.

Honestly? We think it’s the best laundry detergent, period.

Our Goals for Puracy Natural Laundry Detergent

Before we created our Natural Laundry Detergent, we collected and analyzed thousands of pieces of feedback regarding our competitors’ detergent. And we kept coming back to the same points. Modern consumers wanted laundry products with:

  • less wasteful formulas and packaging
  • an easier dispensing method
  • gentle on sensitive skin
  • a formula that leaves no residue behind
  • the best stain-fighting ingredients

You can bet that we delivered on all of these.

What 10X Concentrated Laundry Detergent Really Means

When we started, the market leader for natural laundry detergent offered an 8X concentrated product. Since we’re always striving for efficiency, we asked our lead chemists if they could top that. After months of R&D, we had a 10X formula (which is still the most concentrated liquid laundry detergent in America).

To clean a normal load, customers only need a teeny-tiny ½ TBSP of our Laundry Detergent. Compared to a non-concentrated formula, this product reduces plastic packaging, water use, and energy waste by about 85%.

Water Isn't the Main Ingredient

puracy natural laundry detergent

We’re currently – and proudly – the only major brand on the market that doesn’t list water as its main ingredient.

Water’s almost certainly the main ingredient in your laundry detergent, which means you need to use more detergent to get your clothes clean. We encourage you to check out the ingredients on the bottle. Don’t worry, we’ll wait.

Using More Detergent = More Waste

If you’re using twice the recommended amount of laundry soap to wash your clothes, it stands to reason that you’ll also need to buy that product more often.

Consider this: A single 24-ounce bottle of Puracy Laundry Detergent cleans 96 loads of laundry. Our #1 competitor can certainly clean 96 loads of laundry, but it’ll require a bulky, 150-ounce bottle.

How Puracy Cuts Down on Unnecessary Waste

Many detergent manufacturers use high-density plastic, and that’s a little ridiculous so late in the game. Puracy uses lightweight PET #1 plastic which is the easiest plastic to recycle. As a more environmentally-friendly option, you can also find our Laundry Detergent in BPA-free, 64-ounce refill packs.

Perfect Measurements – Every Time

Outdated, difficult-to-read laundry detergent caps are notorious for encouraging people to use too much product. No more sticky, gooey caps, and definitely no more measuring: Our team created a one-handed pump top that measures everything for you, bing bang boom:

  • Use 1 pump for small loads in HE washers
  • Use 2 pumps for regular/large loads in HE washers and small loads in standard washers
  • Use 4 pumps for regular/large loads in standard washers
  • For tough stains, apply detergent directly to the stain, agitate with a laundry brush, and wash normally (or just use our Natural Stain Remover)

Creating the Best Laundry Detergent for Sensitive Skin

The entire Puracy product lineup is designed to be used by people with incredibly sensitive skin and severe allergies. That’s why this natural detergent leaves behind zero residue, no matter your water hardness level.

Natural Surfactants Rinse Cleanly Away

Sulfates are some of the most common ingredients in laundry detergent. Cheap and effective, these foaming agents can cause skin irritation, dryness, and redness in many people with sensitive skin. And because excess suds can trap all the dirt and grime pulled from your clothes, they can be redeposited if they’re not completely rinsed clean.

We’ve opted to use cocamidopropyl betaine, a coconut-derived ingredient that offers incredible cleansing capabilities. While cocamidopropyl betaine has a slightly controversial reputation in skin care products, our Laundry Detergent has been tested to rinse cleanly away so none remains.

Destroys Odors Instead of Masking Them

To help these plant enzymes – and to zap any lingering odors – we added zinc ricinoleate to our formula. Rather than masking stinky socks and underwear with heavy fragrances, we’re happy to report that even our unscented Natural Laundry Detergent eliminates smells.

Free of Artificial Fragrances & Perfumes

Thanks to “trade secret laws”, manufacturers aren’t required to list individual fragrance elements. That means consumers aren’t always aware of the ingredients being used in a product’s fragrance – and manmade perfumes can be made up of hundreds of different substances. Rest assured, we never synthetic fragrances or perfumes in Puracy products. We think they stink, big time.

Instead, we offer two Natural Laundry Detergent varieties: Free and Clear (totally unscented) and Fresh Linen (delicately scented with essential oils).

No Dyes or Optical Brighteners

We don’t believe that dyes (e.g. FD&C blue #1) or optical brighteners have any place in your laundry detergent. Flat out, they don’t get clothes cleaner and they can cause contact dermatitis.

No 1,4 Dioxane

Detergent chemicals aren’t only linked to allergic reactions: 1,4 dioxane (which is found in many major laundry detergents) was deemed a “potential carcinogen” by the FDA. It goes without saying that you’ll never find 1,4 dioxane in Puracy products – but we still like saying it.

Plant-Based Enzymes Fight Stains & Odors

Our 100% biodegradable formula works by harnessing the power of 4 plant-based enzymes: protease, amylase, mannanase, and lipase.

When these microscopic proteins get in between fibers, they ruthlessly break down hundreds of stains and odors until they’re totally erased. We don’t recommend using bleach to whiten clothes, however, since it’s going to kill the plant-based enzymes.

Instead, Use Puracy Stain Remover

Even though our Natural Laundry Detergent is designed for 90% of your regular washing, you might need to pre-treat clothes with our Natural Stain Remover. The only major difference in your washing routine will be adding an extra rinse cycle (to ensure that all of the product and stain particles are totally cleaned away).

Hands down, these two laundry products are the perfect combination to combat stains, streaks, smudges, and stinks.
