Bathroom Essentials: The Full Checklist for a Well-Stocked Bath

In most households, the bathroom is one of the most-used rooms in the house. But it often gets forgotten when it comes to stocking supplies and freshening up old styles.

Whether you’re remodeling your bathroom, getting ready for out-of-town guests, or just moving in, you’ll want to have these bathroom essentials at the ready.

10 Essential Items Every Bathroom Should Have

At a minimum, these are the 10 bathroom essentials you’ll want in every bathroom in your house no matter how big or small the space is:

These are just the basics for a comfortable bathroom set-up, but depending on your budget and bathroom size, there are plenty of luxurious items you can add in for a more welcoming feel. These include things like fresh flowers from your garden displayed in a pretty vase, or perhaps an essential oil diffuser or your favorite scented candle.

Master Bathroom Necessities

Your master bathroom is the place where you refresh yourself first thing in the morning to take on the day. It can also serve as a luxurious and relaxing retreat at the end of the evening. However you look at this room in your house, you’ll want to make sure it’s fully-stocked with everything you need to look and feel your best.

Our master bathroom checklist is more extensive than other bathrooms, so you’ll probably spend a bit more here.

Master bathroom essentials checklist:

In addition to the 10 bathroom essentials we identified above, you’ll want to equip your master bath with the following…

  • High-quality bath towels (2 sets)
  • Hand towels (2 sets)
  • Washcloths (2 sets)
  • Tub mat
  • Bath rug(s)
  • Hair towel
  • Soap dish/dispenser
  • Toothbrush
  • Toothbrush holder
  • Shower curtain / liner / rings
  • Shower caddy / suction baskets
  • Cosmetics organizers
  • Shelving
  • Under-the-sink storage baskets or containers
  • Hamper

Personal care and comfort items:

Depending on your style preference and how often your bathroom is used as a relaxing retreat, your checklist items may vary.

Guest Bath Necessities and Items

There’s nothing more awkward than a guest asking about where the extra toilet paper is located. Make it easy and less embarrassing by fully stocking your guest bath in advance.

Have your guests feel more-than-welcome with these items:

  • High-quality towels (body, face, washcloth, hand)
  • Hotel-sized toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, etc.)
  • Toothpaste
  • Disposable toothbrush
  • Floss
  • Mouthwash
  • Hair dryer
  • Disposable razor
  • Pain reliever (i.e. Tylenol or Advil)
  • Extra toilet paper + storage
  • Storage for extra toiletries
  • Freshening spray (Puracy Natural Washroom Spray)

There are a few bathroom essentials you should always have on hand (like toilet paper), but thoughtful touches like toothbrushes and floss will really make guests feel at home.

Best Bathroom Cleaning Supplies

Now it’s time to get down and get a little dirty in your bathroom.

It’s essential to keep your bathroom clean. Yes, the dreaded job of cleaning the toilet bowl, the clumps of hair, and all the sink grime has come.

Thankfully, while you’re on your hands and knees scrubbing and cleaning, you don’t have to also endure the smell of unnecessary chemicals like strong bleach. You also don’t have to worry about exposing yourself, your family, or your guests to toxic chemicals that can often be found in conventional cleaning products.

You can efficiently and effectively clean your bathroom with a variety of natural products that clean well and are safe for your family. Here are a few of our favorite green bathroom cleaning supplies:

Puracy Natural Multi-Surface Cleaner

This non-toxic, streak-free, and versatile cleanser is made from plants and water. It will safely and effectively clean any non-porous bathroom surface, including your toilet, bathtub, tile, countertops, mirrors, shower doors, and more. Equally as important, the proprietary blend of renewable ingredients is safe to use around your family and is free from harsh chemicals and fumes.

Puracy Natural Stain Remover

If your bathroom suffers from stained bath mats, towels, or other washable fabrics, then we recommend trying our natural stain remover. It will tackle hundreds of different stains, residues, odors, and spots without bleaching or discoloring fabrics. And best of all, our formula is family safe and non-toxic.

DIY Bathroom Spray

If you’re in a pinch and you'd like to make your bathroom smell fresh and clean, then try creating a DIY bathroom spray using common household products you probably already have on hand.  Grab your favorite scent of essential oils and get to mixing. Here's what you'll need:

Ingredients:

  • 1 tsp rubbing alcohol or vodka
  • 30-40 drops essential oils
  • 3 oz water

Mix the alcohol, essential oils and water into a spray bottle. This mixture will smear if sprayed on mirrors or other surfaces, so do not spray it throughout your entire bathroom. Instead, only spray the solution into the toilet water or in/around the sink and shower/tub drain. This will allow the scent to linger without harming or making a mess of things.

Once you’ve got your favorite cleaning products handy, it’s time to get to work. Here’s a bathroom cleaning checklist to get your bathroom looking and smelling clean:

  • Clear obstacles
Remove all floor mats, laundry, etc., off the floor

Dust all vents, light fixtures, and countertops before sweeping
